Women and Film

I found this site linked on the V-Spot for V-Day campaign organisers. It’s an excellent resource of films by women, about women. It has a few that would be helpful for the campaign about women’s issues, violence against women, etc. Women Make Movies. Check it.

Here were a few of the films profiled (also available for purchase on the site):
Senorita Extraviada tells the haunting story of the more than 350 kidnapped, raped and murdered young women of Juárez, Mexico.
Warrior Marks is a poetic and political film about female genital mutilation from the director of A Place of Rage, presented by the Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Color Purple and Possessing the Secret of Joy. Female genital mutilation affects one hundred million of the world’s women and this remarkable film unlocks some of the cultural and political complex-ities surrounding this issue.
Honoring Our Voices Sharing their stories about recovery and healing, six Native women of different ages and backgrounds talk about the choices they have made to overcome the hardships of family violence and end the cycle of abuse and silence.
