Just before we both began our new jobs at the end of August, Ali and I took the bus to Canary Wharf on a Friday afternoon to check out his new stomping grounds. This area of London is interesting because the buildings are taller and more modern, making an attempt to evoke the feeling of standing in Manhattan. Not quite the same. It’s fairly busy during the week and on Friday afternoons when work is out for the weekend and everyone scrambles for an after dinner drink. Weekends can be pretty empty as most people live outside of Canary Wharf and commute in, although the area is converting many warehouses and old flats and producing very luxury apartments on the river.
I’ve purposely overexposed this photo.
